Small Axe Sound is specialized in caribbean music such as Reggae, Dancehall & Soca – but also playing Hip Hop Classics and other Hits from way back till now. The sound is also well known for regular Roots Reggae & Rocksteady sessions beside of the mainstream dancehall business.

The crew from Aken Germany  is part of the Small Axe International Movement with many bases all over the globe. The Sound was named after a song, done by Bob Marley in 1971. The message is about justice & equality and it reminds people of their ability to take matters into their own hands, if necessary. The lyrics counteract against opression and call out for self defense and revolution, if human rights are violated.

Sensi Ryder & the crew from Aken built one of the earliest ‘real soundsystems’ (equipped with dubplates, heavy speaker sets & stuff) in Europe (’98/’99), and made Small Axe known well all over the continent..
